Position Summary
The Accounting Policy Analyst is a position designed for development and exposure to a variety of roles within the Finance department. The position will be housed within the Accounting Policy, SOX, and Data Management team, but will also gain exposure and work with other areas of the department, such as SEC Reporting and Accounting Operations.The focus of the position will include:Accounting Policy; assisting with the Bank's compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) by assisting with establishing accounting policies and transaction interpretations.Accounting Policy; preparation of certain technical accounting journal entries and monthly account reconciliations, including related reporting in our SEC filings, such as the Allowance for Credit Losses.SOX; assisting with testing internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)Data Management; assisting with the Finance department's compliance with risk management requirements and best practices over data governancePrimary Success FactorsAccounting Policy:Assist with maintaining a current Bank Accounting Policy Manual, including researching, interpreting, and application of new GAAP and/or other rules.Assist with researching accounting literature for application to new products, transactions, and/or accounting issues.Drafts accounting memoranda for new accounting pronouncements and business transactions and their impact to the Bank.Provide technical and other support on accounting and reporting related matters.Independently express opinions and provide updates on emerging accounting issues for discussion with the Chief Accounting Officer.Assist with preparing complex portions of the financial statement footnotes and MD&A that are included in the Bank's SEC filings; understanding and interpreting SEC reporting rules and regulations.SOX:Assist with the execution of the tests of key controls.Provide support in the development and maintenance of SOX internal control documentation.Data Management:Assist with the development of a Finance department data management program and compliance with risk management requirements by establishing frameworks and policies.SEC ReportingAssist with the preparation of various aspects of the SEC reporting process, including review of the Financial Statement Disclosure Checklist.Work with the Workiva Wdesk platform, our SEC reporting tool.Required ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, and/or corporate accounting, and/or Internal Audit requiredCPA preferredAbility to research and evaluate accounting policies and transactions; working knowledge of GAAPKnowledge of SEC reporting requirements, including provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley ActFinancial reporting skills, including working knowledge of financial statements and reporting requirementsExcellent written/verbal communication skillsDemonstrated analytical skillsAbility to analyze and interpret data flowStrong project management skills with the capability to prioritize multiple demandsFinancial services industry knowledge preferredIt is the policy of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh to ensure equal employment opportunity (EEO) for all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, disability status, genetic information, veteran's status, ancestry, sexual orientation or status as a parent as defined by applicable law.
