THE POSITION

The Fayette County Housing Authority is seeking an energetic, dedicated, cooperative, and motivated Purchasing Agent to join their team of professionals. Help ensure our team has what it needs to maintain, manage, and develop affordable and safe assisted housing for residents of our community!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Purchasing Agent, you will take part in performing activities involved with procuring materials, services, and equipment required to operate and maintain the Authority in a cost-effective manner and within stated policies and procedures. Such responsibilities will include submitting and reviewing requisitions, creating purchase orders, and processing purchases for the Authority, as well as preparing, reviewing, and awarding Invitation for Bids (IFB), Request for Proposals (RFP), and Requests for Qualifications (RFQ). You will ensure the procurement process adheres to set rules and regulations, communicate proper procedures to appropriate personnel, recommend improvements for purchasing operating policies and procedures, and maintain responsibility for the procurement of nearly all services, equipment, and materials for the Authority.Additional duties involve estimating costs according to prior purchases, maintaining knowledge of market prices, and determining methods of procurement such as micro purchase, small purchase, or competitive/non-competitive purchase. You will also confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule, as well as discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble. This includes taking corrective actions such as expediting the delivery of goods to users when necessary. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and services; or
Four years of stores or warehouse experience that includes responsibility for maintaining inventory control; requisitioning or ordering supplies, and supervising subordinates; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification; or
Completion of college level instruction in business or the liberal arts may be substituted for a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:
