Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:The Lead Mechanical Engineer will work under general direction, applying their skills and expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.Primary Job Function:Drafts, reviews, or authorizes material requisitions for equipment, materials, and subcontractors.Generates, reviews, or authorizes lists (equipment, valve, piping, tie-in, and specialty items).Produces or examines mechanical engineering deliverable status reports and work plans.Coordinates with client personnel regarding mechanical and piping activities.Examines and approves vendor drawings and documents.Coordinates, evaluates, or authorizes PFDs, P&IDs, piping plans, and site layouts.Attends factory acceptance testing of equipment when necessary.Develops, reviews, or authorizes technical bid evaluations for equipment and materials in collaboration with the Procurement Department.Prepares, reviews, or authorizes mechanical engineering calculations.Reviews the mechanical scope of work to be executed to ensure alignment with deliverable logs, project specifications, and/or contract documents, when acting as LME.Drafts, reviews, or authorizes mechanical specifications and data sheets.Coordinate with project engineers, other discipline engineers and construction teams to ensure consistency in execution of project management activities.Interface with Client to discuss design requirements and project status updates during weekly and 30/60/90% design reviews.Experience:Typically 10+ years of experience focusing on oil and gas pipeline facilities such asCompressor stationsPump stationsMetering and regulating stationsStorage terminalsLoading/unloading facilitiesNice to have CAESAR II experience Knowledgeable in industry codes and standards published by US Department of Transportation, AGA, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, MSS, and NFPA, with the ability to apply the standards to oil and gas pipeline facility systems designs.Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Stress analysis designStructural pipe designPipe counts and velocityEducation/Training:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical EngineeringPE license is requiredCompetencies:Possess sound judgment; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation/training, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skillsStrong technical and design skillsDemonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multidisciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to prepare and interpret design reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutionsAbility to mentor entry level staff on oil and gas pipeline and facility projectsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
