Part-time Horse Farm Manager

The Community Horse Sanctuary is looking for a part-time worker (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) to help care for horses and the sanctuary properties. The horse population varies from 8-14. We are located north of Hillsboro in the Helvetia area.

Maintenance Duties:

Maintaining fences (wood & electric), eliminating invasive species in pastures, managing used bedding/manure pile, picking up feed & delivering it to neighborhood pasture homes and other jobs as they arise. The facility is 27 years-old so things break. Stall cleaning on Saturdays only.

Horse duties:

Preparing feed for morning and evening, turning horses out in the morning and bringing them in before dark. Feeding dinner. Weekly grooming of each horse. Holding horses for farrier every 8 weeks.

Skills: competence in driving tractor and dump truck. Comfortable handling horses and knowledgeable about their behavior and health. Basic carpentry, plumbing and landscaping skills. Must be able to lift 50lb feed bags.
