RN Interventional Radiology
An Interventional Radiology Nurse is a specialized RN whoassists the physician with medical imaging such as MRIs, ultrasounds orX-rays. The RN - InterventionalRadiology is responsible for patient care during the entire process, includingthe initial assessment, the plan of care, administering medication, checkingfor lab results, and reviewing the patient’s medical history. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures in allmodalities of imaging services (CT, MRI, IR, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, andNuclear Medicine
Initiates IV access or assesses the patency of IV accessprior to the administration of contrast media or other intravenous medicationsor blood products
Obtains and administers medications as ordered by thephysician
Recognizes emergency situations and participates intreatment interventions including but not limited to contrast reactions withall modalities of imaging services
Ensures that emergency supplies are current and replaced asneeded
Monitors Critical Care and Emergency Department prior topatient transport
Accurately documents patient assessment and nursinginterventions for patients receiving conscious sedation
Consults with physicians and radiologists regarding abnormallab results
Sets up and maintains sterile trays and other equipment
Passes instruments and supplies to radiologist practicingsterile technique
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which thenurse practices.
One year experience in Interventional Radiology preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language may be required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
