Senior Accountant
Job description for a Senior Accountant that includes the specified requirements:
Job Title: Senior Accountant Position Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week / 120 hours per month) Salary: $35.00 to $38.00 per hour based on experience (5 years or more)
Job Summary:
Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee and manage financial reporting, payroll, and non-profit grant compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with our part-time financial clerk to ensure accurate financial operations and maintain the organization's financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
2. Oversee payroll processing and management for all staff, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
3. Experience in managing the financial aspects of non-profit grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.
4. Collaborate closely with the financial clerk to maintain accurate financial records and streamline processes.
5. Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Assist in developing and monitoring annual budgets and financial forecasts.
7. Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
8. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of non-profit finance regulations, policies, and best practices.
10. Maintain the Chart of Accounts accordingly.
11. File 990 Form; and 1099s.
12. Ensure accuracy in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
13. Maintain accruals.
14. Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
15. Comply with the Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, especially in Non-Profit Accounting.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, payroll systems, and management of non-profit grants.
-Strong understanding of the federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Proficient in QuickBooks online preferred and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
