The Office of Engineering Research Administration (OERA) in Penn State's College of Engineering is seeking an innovative, highly skilled professional for a Proposal and Award Generalist - Senior Supervisor position. The successful candidate will lead a subteam within the pre-award team, report to the Assistant Director in Pre-Award, and work in a large-volume, fast-paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment.The College of Engineering is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Manage and supervise a team, including providing training and mentoring to junior pre-award coordinators, continuously receiving, reviewing, and assigning incoming requests, and coordinating workloads.Review, analyze, and submit proposals, contracts, and grants to various federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private corporations and foundations.Advise faculty and staff in interpreting and adhering to sponsor and University guidelines and regulations.Serve as a liaison with sponsors and other University offices on behalf of faculty and staff.Provide assistance in all aspects of post-award administration: compliance, reports, invoices, creating new accounts, revised budgets, account transfers, no-cost extension requests, monitoring deadlines, and resolving problems.Gather and analyze data on research activities.Facilitate communication to promote research.Qualify for and obtain delegated signatory authority.Provide exceptional customer service.Education and Experience:This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 6+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.This position requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of tasks.Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are required.Capability to work both independently and as a team member and ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations are essential.Experience with electronic proposal submission sites, Excel, Word, and SIMS Budgets is preferred.Experience in financial aspects of research administration and supervision experience are preferred.Graduate of Penn State's ACOR Certification & Education Series (ACES) is preferred.The Pennsylvania State University is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms.
