Physician Liaison 1 (On-site- local DFW travel)
JOB SUMMARYThe Physician Liaison 1 serves as a trusted connection between physicians, practices, hospitals, free-standing ER’s, Urgent Care facilities, other health care providers and key community stakeholders within the market service area of their assigned hospital and the appropriate stakeholders at that Baylor Scott & White Health hospital. The goal of these connections is to increase the awareness of and ease of access to BSWH services and is achieved by developing and maintaining positive relationships with those external parties. The Physician Liaison 1 works closely with hospital and service line leadership to set priorities for growth and develop/execute effective outreach initiatives. The Physician Liaison 1 has targeted, scheduled and as-needed touches (in person and otherwise) with those external parties in their assigned primary market service area in furtherance of those initiatives and ultimately to promote the services of Baylor Scott and White Health. Because the Physician Liaison 1 is in regular contact with hospital and service line leadership, they represent and serve as an extension of BSWH in their assigned primary market service area and shall promptly relay pertinent information in both directions. The two primary focuses of the Physician Liaison 1 are the consistent growth of BSWH (through increased loyalty, alignment and acquisition) and the improvement of the overall patient experience at BSWH.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLEEstablish and foster relationships with health care providers and key community stakeholders throughout the primary market service area (and beyond—as appropriate). This is achieved through regular, open and honest communication/touches with these external parties. The health care providers and community stakeholders the Physician Liaison 1 will regularly contact include the following (with special focus on those independent providers in each category):Primary Care ProvidersSpecialists and Sub-SpecialistsOutside hospitals (with focus on Emergency Departments and Critical Care Units)Free-Standing Emergency Departments and Urgent Care FacilitiesAll other ancillary health care providers (e.g.-imaging, rehab, ASC, dialysis centers, etc.)Large employers (as assigned by hospital leadership)Community and/or municipal groups (as assigned by hospital leadership)When meeting with these external parties:Identify any gaps in care or needs that exist and connect those health care providers with the appropriate BSWH stakeholders to meet those needsIdentify any opportunities for increased alignment/partnership (either formally or informally) and work with the appropriate BSWH stakeholders to pursue those opportunities.Serve as the BSWH point of contact for these external parties and connect them as appropriate with stakeholders across the BSWH enterprise.Utilize available market data to develop a comprehensive understanding of the health care landscape in the applicable market service area(s). Work with hospital/service line leadership and Strategy to create and execute action plans based on this data related to the specific needs of the community and BSWH capabilities to meet those needsCollaborate with local OR and procedural leadership to regularly review volumes and outcomes to identify issues, needs or shortcomings to create and execute action plans as appropriate, or capitalize on any successes to strengthen alignment with key specialistsEnsure communication channels between our hospitals and external health care providers are open and active by maintaining regular contact with, and providing pertinent updates to, those health care providersPromptly respond to issues reported by external health care providers as they arise:Engage the appropriate hospital stakeholder(s) to ensure resolution of the issue(s) and communicate with the reporting health care provider.As appropriate, involve hospital and service line leadership for service recovery and/or reaffirmation of our commitment to these relationships.Utilize the CRM to document and report on activitiesMaintain consistent communication and regular touch points with respective BSWH hospital and service line leadership and report on our activities as requestedCollaborate with partners across the BSWH enterprise (to include joint venture partners) to maximize our efforts towards the common goal of consistent growth and an improved patient experience at BSWHPerforms other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous mannerThe information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this job.
