Assistant Swim Coach
Humboldt Swim Club is looking for an assistant coach to work with their senior (high school) program. The senior assistant swim coach is responsible for assisting the lead coach with organizing the senior program. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating athletes, and instructing athletes in strategies and techniques.
Job Functions:
-Assist Lead Senior Coach in instructing athletes on rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
-Organize and direct group practices as directed by the Lead Coach.
-Assesses swimmer's skills, monitors athlete during practice and keeps the Lead Coach informed of the athletic performances of athletes.
-Maintain regular and timely attendance.
-Known and follow USA Swimming policies and procedure.
-Provide first aid and CPR as required.
-Familiar with the facility Emergency Action Plans and respond appropriately to all emergencies.
-Enforce facility and club rules.
-Fill in for Lead Coach when needed.
-Share ideas and collaborate with team staff and athletes.
-Ensure completion of required training and certification per USA Swimming.
-Attend team events and coach meetings.
-Other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
-Completion and certification of required courses, paid for by employer, such as Red Cross CPR/ AED/ First Aid, USA Swimming Coaching Certification, Concussion and Background check.
-1-3 years of club, high school, college swim, or coaching experience.
-At least a High School Diploma.
-Must have basic ability to learn new programs.
Humboldt Swim Club (HSC) is a yearlong, non-profit swim team, that has provided our community access to the competitive sport of swimming for 30 years. Our club of 140 athletes' swims at Arcata Community Pool and Cal Poly Humboldt Pool.
