Madrona Bakery is seeking a talented barista to join our team.
We are looking for folks who are passionate about coffee and can help us provide an elevated coffee program that compliments our technique driven pastry and bread offerings.
This is a front of house customer facing position, so candidates must be:
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Have a strong knowledge of coffee and tea
- Experience working as a barista working with specialty coffee (minimum one year, in a cafe or bakery) Latte art is a bonus!
- Hold Servsafe certification

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The role of Barista is to deliver exceptional beverages and hospitality to every customer. The ideal candidate will be passionate about specialty coffee and be generous in sharing their knowledge with customers and their teammates. They will be comfortable working independently, are able to maintain their cool, and keep service running during rushes.
Candidates must be open to learning our drink recipes and help us constantly improve our beverage offerings.
What will your responsibilities be?
Maintain mindful and detail-oriented hospitality
Follow recipes to prepare drinks to make high quality espresso, coffee, and tea beverages
Understand milk steaming and drink building
Understand coffee/espresso extraction principles and be able to “dial in” the expresso through out the day
Taste beverages to make sure their flavors are consistent throughout the day
Communicate kindly with customers and team members
Keep your station and equipment clean, tidy, and aesthetically pleasing at all times
Work with management to ensure all coffee equipment is cleaned and serviced regularly.
Always be learning about coffee; and continue to improve your knowledge
Have a good working knowledge of all the products we make
Follow opening and closing procedures, including using locks and our alarm system
Work in compliance with health department requirements
Support and work together with the rest of the team
Be welcoming to everyone & be yourself
Maintain a professional appearance with attire and hygiene standards
Requirements:
Previous coffee, hospitality, or food service experience. Minimum one year working with specialty coffee.
Prepare coffee in a variety of brew methods (espresso, pour over, cold brew, and batch brewing) in a busy cafe.
Demonstrate a passion for coffee and tea.
Applicants must have flexible schedules, and the availability to work shifts, early mornings, evenings, public holidays, and weekends.
Applicants must be open to learning our drink set up and willing to commit to 3-4 shifts per week. A six-month to one-year minimum commitment is preferred.
Maintain a current Serv-Safe or equivalent Food handlers’ certificate.
Ability to lift 40 Lbs.
Repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, lifting, and grasping
Reliably commute or relocate prior to starting work

Pay: $20-$23/hr (based on experience) + tips (on average $10+/hour)
