Job DescriptionPrimary responsibilities include: proposal and budget development; University and sponsor policy and guideline interpretation for faculty members and their lab personnel; forecasting expenses and providing regular as well as ad hoc financial reports to Department and faculty; reconciling faculty and lab research needs with overall financial picture and making recommendations regarding spending rates; monitoring accounts to ensure compliance with federal, University and/or sponsor regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to: acting as effort report coordinator; approving payments over certain dollar thresholds; training lab managers and other lab personnel on sponsored research policies and procedures; assist in implementing policies at the department level and recommend process improvements; help to resolve issues related to research funding and related to migrating and/or transferring labs. Hard Skills

Bachelor's Degree

Five years directly related work experience in an academic environment

Knowledge of NIH/NSF grant policies

Understanding of Uniform Guidance

Experience with federal and non-federal sponsors

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Experience with financial systems/reporting applications (GMAS, OBI, PI Dashboard)

Soft Skills

Ability to prioritize multiple assignments

High degree of judgment for sound decision-making

Handling sensitive information

Effective communication with faculty

Commitment to customer service

Willingness to take on additional tasks

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
