Summary

The responsibilities of the Machinist ll role is to set up and monitor multiple CNC Mills / Lathes, perform adjustments at the CNC when required, light programing duties, loading, unloading and performing visual and dimensional inspection on parts, in addition to overseeing the work of Machinist l and CNC operators.

REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

5-7 years machine shop experience, machine shop trade school graduate a plus

Ability to read and interpret drawings; knowledge of GD&T a plus

Must have proven skill with basic machine shop measuring tools; knowledge in advanced measurement methods a plus

Communicate any machining errors, tooling issues, and communicate corrective actions clearly and timely

Ability to use SolidWorks and Mastercam or equivalent CAD/CAM software

Committed to following safety and quality procedures

Follow lean manufacturing practices and maintain a clean work environment

Critical thinker with a strong attention to detail, with a desire to constantly improve

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE/SYSTEMS

Safety shoes and safety glasses required. Hearing protection recommended

General hand tools, measuring devices, cutting tools, equipment of the department

Computer – Microsoft Office suite and email

Understand G and M Code

Programming software - Mastercam and SolidWorks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing for long periods of time; exposure to oils, grease, and noise

Must be able to lift 50lbs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate CNC tools and equipment to machine parts with features of simple to mid level complexity in accordance with mechanical drawings

Monitor multiple CNC mills and lathes at one time

Respond to and resolve machine alarms/faults

Perform part setups, provide first articles for inspection, and break down of machines

Program parts with features of simple to mid level complexity in accordance with mechanical drawings

Collaborate with Engineering and Quality on print issues or areas for improvements

Maintain part specific work orders through ERP system by recording accepted and defective parts

Perform inspection with precision measuring tools according to JL Billet standards and customer requirements

Maintain daily production logs, including reporting daily adjustments or changes in Passdown books

Maintain shop equipment including checking coolant, and other fluid levels and adding appropriate fluid when necessary, wiping down machines, tools, work spaces free of oil, grease or debris

Perform surface finish activities including deburring, tumbling and shot peening machined parts

Assist in training operators on SOP for CNC Mills/Lathes, including cross training of other employees

Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices
