Operations & Maintenance Supervisor - Journeyman Electrician
Work schedule is Monday - Friday (7am - 4pm) and is expected to participate in an on-call rotation to ensure leadership coverage throughout the year.The ideal candidate will have an active journeyman electrical license and have least five years of experience in the electrical field post licensure. The candidate will also have experience with building automation associated with utility (HVAC, Chill Water, Heat Exchanger, etc.) systems in a either a research or high rise building environment. The candidate will have worked collaboratively with various teams such as Engineers, Project Managers, Customer Service and other trades people. Additionally, the candidate will have documented leadership experience.SUMMARYThe primary purpose of the Supervisor, Operations and Maintenance position is to provides experienced administrative and technical support for the maintenance and operation of all buildings, structures, systems, components and utilities and assists the department manager with the coordination and supervision of designated shops and all associated activities. Impacts the activities of trades/crafts personnel in management of building maintenance and operations for patient care, research and/or administrative facilities. Supervises maintenance activities related to finishes and maintaining the building(s). Coordinates the efforts of both journeyman and non-journeyman employees to ensure continued operations within the assigned facilities area for both scheduled and non-scheduled work. Manages human resource functions, including planning, recruitment, employee relations, and development. Functions as the front line contact with clients to ensure efficient delivery of services. Oversees contracted work to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to institutional policy. Acts as the interim incident commander during emergency situations and coordinates response efforts as needed. Provides information in the development of campus budgets and capital requests. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control to resolve maintenance problems and recommends measures to improve operations and conditions of equipment. Supports the development of the preventative maintenance program. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for maintenance operations. Implements performance improvement initiatives.JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESWorkforce Development Hires staff, recommends promotions, salary adjustments, andhandles other personnel matters as required. Develops workforce through cross training,peer guidance and continuing education. Ensures that required and desired training, skillbuilding, safety compliance programs, and developmental programs for staff are preparedand administered. Prepares and reviews employee performance evaluations inaccordance to institutional requirements.Budget Preparation Assists in the development and managing of departmental expensebudget for assigned accounts. Prepares and executes capital repair and renewal requestsin accordance with UT MDACC system requirements. Plans and consults in designingand initiating equipment replacement and expansions. Composes financial reports asrequired.Equipment Maintenance Assesses equipment needs and reliability makingrecommendations to maintain ongoing operations. Develops and oversees PM task sheetinformation utilizing OEM recommendations and industry best practices. Documentsroutine equipment work and preventive maintenance through regular updates in CMMS.Checks and amends plans and drawings for upgrades and new construction.On call Communication As a group Leader, this position is expected to regularly carrya pager or other communication device to answer questions or give direction if needed.This requirement does not imply any other limits during non-working hours. This time isnot considered on-call and will not be compensated.Other duties as assignedRequired: High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.Preferred: Active journeyman electrical license and have least five years of experience in the electrical field post licensure.
