Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in the Professional Services industry, based in ANN ARBOR, Michigan. As a Sr. Accountant, you will play a crucial role in handling a range of tasks such as contract billing, journal entries, and customer payment monitoring with precision and minimal supervision. This role also involves supporting the Revenue Accounting Manager in various tasks and projects.Responsibilities: Ensure accurate and efficient processing of contract billing and customer payment portals. Handle the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations in a timely manner. Collaborate with Program Managers to confirm milestones for invoicing purposes. Manage the submission of contract billings through customer and government web-based portals. Assist in the collection of past-due accounts by providing necessary invoice support. Maintain the general ledger accounts for revenue, accounts receivable, and unbilled A/R. Contribute to process improvement initiatives by following established accounting policies. Participate in special projects as needed and assist in preparing audit materials. Liaise with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely government billings with related support. Stay updated with acceptable accounting practices and procedures. Requirements Must have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations Extensive knowledge of General Ledger and Journal Entries Proficient in Microsoft Excel Experience in Month End Close Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Detail-oriented and highly organized Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines Knowledge of accounting principles and ethical guidelines Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools as they are implemented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus Must be legally authorized to work in the designated country of employment.
