Testing Technician-Construction Materials Testing
A multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm located in the Florence, Alabama area specializing in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and construction inspection services since 2013 is looking for a Testing Technician.
LOCATION : Florence, Alabama area.
General Responsibilities
Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, testing, observations, and inspection requirements and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written / digital reports of work performed as “Daily Reports” for submittal to clients, engineers, and contractors. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Role and Responsibilities
Under close supervision of higher level technicians or staff professionals, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
Communicate information to Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager
Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
Maintain and clean assigned equipment.
Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Perform pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
The required skills shall include a preferred background in civil site construction and shall be physically capable of walking over rough terrain and standing long periods of time.
o Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
o Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history (3 points maximum).
o Must be over the age of 21 for company vehicle insurance.
o Obtain ACI certifications within 6 months of hire (company provided).
o Able to pass random drug screening
Experience with using smart phone tools for web browsing and emails.
Excellent math and computer skills
Preferred
1 – 2+ years experience in Heavy civil construction (concrete, soils, asphalt, etc.)

ACI Concrete Field Certification Level 1
ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician
Earthwork Construction Inspection – Level 1 & 2
Portable Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Gauge Safety & US DOT HAZMAT Certification
