You will be supporting and mentoring a growing team of environmental specialists on projects around the United States, in addition to helping bring new opportunities, provide mentorship, review, and oversight. Applicant should be self-motivated with a propensity for innovation and creativity, and team oriented. The applicant should be able to manage and develop new business and work with other environmental staff, prepare proposals and cost estimates, and mentor environmental staff. The potential exists for growth into supervision/ management of additional environmental services, including contract development and administration, business development, client maintenance, project budget review and monitoring, and supervision and mentoring of other environmental staff.On any given day, you’ll be assisting with:

Work with client projects and assist in developing business to grow our private, municipal, or government services. Success will be defined by the ability to generate work opportunities and manage these projects and help grow our staff. Create and maintain existing relationships with communities and clients and interface with key clients on projects.

Environmental consulting duties include preparing plans, permits or reports for a variety of projects related to environmental remediation, assessment, redevelopment, oil/gas/mining, or compliance (air permits, NPDES, SWPPPs, SPCC, EPCRA Tier II and TRI/Form R Reporting, general compliance audits, hazardous waste management, or compliance monitoring under TSCA, RCRA, or CERCLA).

Provide design, permitting, construction specification preparation, construction administration, and construction observation and documentation of construction/environmental related engineering services. (Could include: soil density testing, geomembrane installation, assisting with construction documentation reports, and monitoring well installation and observation).

Review environmental reports, designs, data interpretations, and calculations.

Develop and oversee SPCC plans, petroleum storage tank and containment designs, non-metallic mining reclamation plans, construction site storm water permits and storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), and various engineering plans and specifications related to our brownfield redevelopment projects.

Help clients manage their businesses by performing due diligence assessments regarding acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, property sales, and leases.

Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure successful project execution and deliverables.

Work with professional and technical staff on our environmental team to develop project deliverables.

Develop proposals and cost estimates for opportunities.

Establish target markets/clients with management and other compliance team members to develop a program to establish relationships and build workload.

Contact clients, attend meetings, assist in project and client intelligence and strategies, and participate in trade show and client-related activities.

Provide technical guidance on environmental projects, including on-site assistance as needed, prepare project proposals, attend project interviews, participate in presentations, negotiating hourly estimates, fee proposals, and contract documents.

Schedule and monitor project work to ensure successful completion and positive financial performance of each deliverable.

Collaborate with our talented staff including Urban Planners, Economic Development Professionals, Landscape Architects, Environmental Scientists, Ecologists, Transportation Engineers, and Water Resource Engineers.

Work with project teams to effectively delegate assignments, and mentor junior staff members. Train the next generation of environmental leaders!

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in environmental or geological engineering, environmental science, geology, or related field.

Contacts with existing or previous private clients, client development capabilities, and registration in an applicable professional discipline, with demonstratable track record of bringing in project work.

15-20 years of related environmental consulting experience in the United States, or nationally, and a minimum 8 years of project management experience.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong mentorship skills.

Ability to support and create new business.

Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.

Desired skills and experiences:

A self-motivated, team-oriented individual with superior written and verbal skills.

In-depth understanding of the relevant local, state and federal regulations and how they apply to specific industries and facilities.

Be able to delegate, utilize, and coach junior staff effectively.

Familiarity with environmental and due diligence design concepts, landfill siting and permitting requirements, remediation construction and operations, permitting regulations and applications, as well as landfill operation and maintenance after closure.

Familiarity with above and below ground petroleum fluid tank design, stormwater permitting, environmental assessment, investigation and remediation is a plus.

Well-connected with proven client development, project management, and staff supervision capabilities.

Have the ability to negotiate with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Be able to work across multiple offices while managing multiple projects and project teams of professional staff.

A masters degree in either environmental engineering or an earth science preferred but not required.

Project experience in multiple environmental areas such as:

Brownfield Environmental Site Assessments, Investigations, and Remediation

Air Quality Permitting, Reporting, or Modeling

Environmental Services for Mining, Oil & Gas, or Other Large Federal Clients

Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures plans

RCRA Hazardous Waste Compliance

Environmental Compliance Auditing

Environmental Due Diligence
