Principal Planner
JOB SUMMARY: Advanced professional planner/land use specialist
responsible for the most complex planning projects in accordance with
the Oregon Statewide Planning Program, Columbia River Gorge National
Scenic Area Management Plan, and Hood River County Comprehensive Plan
and Zoning Ordinance. JOB DUTIES: At minimum, the position will involve
applying County, State and Federal law and ordinances to various land
use permit proposals, including both ministerial and administrative type
applications. It will also involve conducting complex research,
analyzing data, and presenting oral and written reports to the County
Community Development Director, County Planning Commission, and County
Board of Commissioners for decision. Work includes both day-to-day
administration and long-range planning functions. Direct interaction
with the public and answering technical planning and zoning related
questions will also be required. Some minor supervision may also occur

which is available upon request. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: College
degree in planning, landscape architecture, economics, science,
geography or related fields; at least 4 years of professional planning
experience at a Senior Planner level or higher; or any combination of
experience and training as determined by the hiring authority.
