Another Source’s client, the College of Western Idaho, is recruiting an Associate Vice President of Budget and Planning to join their team onsite in Nampa, ID. The AVP of Budget and Planning will oversee a budget of roughly $87 million, playing a critical role in guiding the College's financial future and strategic initiatives during an exciting phase of growth.

About the role:

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Budget and Planning is a key leadership role within the College of Western Idaho. The AVP is responsible for overseeing budgeting and financial planning at the College and in collaboration with the Division of Institutional Effectiveness, developing and executing the College’s strategic planning processes. The AVP will work closely with the Vice President of Finance and Administration, Associate Vice President of Finance and Controller, Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Presidents Cabinet, and campus stakeholders to ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the College. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning within a higher education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Budget Development and Management:

Lead the annual budget development process, including forecasting, planning, and aligning budget allocations with the college's strategic goals and objectives.

Monitor and manage the execution of the budget, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Provide regular financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership. Develop and maintain dashboards that monitor and communicate the financial stability and sustainability of the College.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

Develop and implement multi-year financial plans that support the college’s mission and strategic priorities.

Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, including cost-benefit analysis, to support decision-making and resource allocation.

Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance.

Policy and Procedure Development:

Develop and maintain budget policies and procedures to ensure the effective use of financial resources.

Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local processes, regulations and reporting requirements.

Collaboration and Leadership:

Work with campus stakeholders to support effective budget management, financial planning, and strategic planning processes.

Provide leadership and direction to the budget and financial planning team, fostering a culture of outstanding service, continuous improvement, and professional development. Collaborate with the Associate Vice President of Finance and Controller to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting, compliance with relevant audit standards, and maintaining financial stability at the college.

In partnership with the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, ensure integrated budget and strategic planning processes that align the allocation of resources with the College’s strategic initiatives and assessment results while meeting accreditation standards.

Technology and Innovation:

Leverage technology and innovative practices to enhance and support budget management and financial planning across the College.

Stay current with industry trends and best practices, implementing improvements as appropriate.

What we’d like to see from you:

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, budgeting, and planning, preferably within a higher education setting.

Strong knowledge of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and financial reporting. Knowledge of accounting principles and strategic plan development and execution.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
