Job SummaryAlaska OverviewConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2023. The company produced an average of 195 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOED) in 2023. ConocoPhillips Alaska holds major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy equivalent per day conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips Alaska owns and operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company also has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and owns and operates the Polar Tankers fleet.Kuparuk OverviewThe Greater Kuparuk Area includes the Kuparuk River Unit, approximately 40 miles west of Prudhoe Bay, which encompasses the Kuparuk Field and six nearby satellite fields.The Kuparuk Field is one of the largest onshore producing fields in the United States with more than 500 active producing wells. Kuparuk maintains an active development program. Field installations include three central production facilities that separate oil, natural gas and water, and a seawater treatment plant.The Kuparuk satellites consist of the Meltwater, Tabasco, Tarn, West Sak, Moraine and Coyote fields. All satellite field production is processed through the Kuparuk production facilities. The Nuna project, which targets the Moraine reservoir, was sanctioned in 2023. The project will add 29 development wells with on-pad infrastructure and pipelines that tie back to the existing Kuparuk River Unit processing facilities. Project construction activities began in 2023 and will continue through 2024. Drilling is anticipated to begin in mid-late 2024 with first oil anticipated by early 2025.In 2023, net crude oil production in the Greater Kuparuk Area averaged 65 MBOED.Job DescriptionConocoPhillips Alaska Drilling Supervisor reports to the Drilling Superintendent and is responsible for providing onsite supervision of drilling and completion operations on exploratory and/or development wells for ConocoPhillips within the state of Alaska. This position will safely and efficiently manage rig site operations and personnel to deliver the business objectives. This position will also act as the COP safety and drilling operation leader at the wellsite.Your responsibilities may include:
Safety leader at the wellsite and define the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) tone and expectations for the location
Lead all operations in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all personnel and protection of the environment
Responsible for the onsite implementation of all safety policies and programs e.g. Life Saving Rules Verification, Prep Alaska, etc
Investigate, follow up and close out all incidents relating to rig site personnel, equipment, and procedures
Champion Learning Organization and Learning team efforts at the wellsite
Assist in HSE field audits, investigations, or initiatives
Collaborate and leverage the Wells Support Center (WSC) to make data driven decision
Work in collaboration with drilling contractor and all service companies to ensure all required equipment and tools are available for delivery
Manage daily logistics for all rig equipment
Maintain honest and timely communication with the Superintendent
Champion performance and continuous improvement efforts to ensure delivery of program objectives
Effectively manage well cost and duration, ensuring that timely and accurate Wellview reports are submitted daily
Review and recommend optimization of drilling programs / procedures
Ensure all regulatory approvals are in place prior to any operation
Manage rig site operations to deliver best in class program objectives
Assist in preparation of drilling documentation/manuals
Serve as mentor to less experienced Drilling Supervisors
Champion for innovation, technology deployment and utilization e.g. NOVOS, Corva, rig automation, etc
Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Current/Valid Driver’s License
7 or more years of drilling or field operations experience
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on a 2 week on/2 week off work schedule
Preferred:
10 or more years of drilling or field operations experience
1 or more years of experience in cold weather or arctic environments
1 or more years of experience in various drilling and completions operations in multiple basins globally and in offshore environment will be an advantage
Maintain proper well control certification and be capable of managing well control situations
Intermediate competency in directional drilling including ERD, multi-lateral and horizontal geo-steering techniques
Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Wellview
Proven HSE leadership and communication skills
Actively communicates and takes time to safely perform work to protect our people and environment
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple assignments in a changing environment
Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
