Business Unit: Utility Operations Department: Asset Management & Maintenance Location: Primarily Work from Home (Some Days at Energy Plaza) Duration: Jan-Aug 2025, May-Aug 2025 or May-Dec 2025 Work Schedule: Normal 40 hrs per week nominal 8 to 4:30 but very flexible. Pay: $22.06 - $30.63 Job Responsibilities: The Asset Management and Maintenance (AMMO) team seeks an energetic and curious engineering intern to join the Utility Operations Business Unit at OPPD. In this position, the candidate is expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our systems, daily processes and procedures and also to contribute towards growing and improving the business.

Assist with improving Maintenance Optimization and Asset Management Programs for the District¿s transmission, distribution, and substation systems to ensure an economical and reliable energy source for the OPPD¿s customers.

Assist with field support of inspection & condition assessment for Transmission & Distribution assets.

Participate in investigating, analyzing, and solving power quality related problems at customer locations and provide recommendations to mitigate any challenges

Aid in interpreting data, correlating data, finding trends & patterns to gain data driven insights and actionable results to determine the direction and make decisions that will optimize reliability, cost, and customer satisfaction.

Prototype, test, and deploy advanced analytics using predictive modeling, machine learning, and other advanced techniques to move towards more proactive ways of handling asset management.

Build creative visualizations that tell a story and effectively communicate detailed insights & results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Assist in trending equipment, evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria while recommending equipment maintenance or replacement strategies.

Good learner and curious about the utilities industry, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service and contributes towards growing and improving the business

Professional, responsible, self-motivated, great communication and team player skills

Qualifications

Specific fields of study required: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering

Qualifications:

Enrolled in a 4-year Bachelors of Science in a Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics program

Must have the ability to: prioritize and work on multiple assignments at one time; work under stressful situations; operate a computer and other office equipment; sit at a desk for more than one hour at a time; move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company.

High Analytical and Problem Solving Skills, Attention to Detail, Good Communication Skills (Written and Verbal)

2.5 GPA or higher is required

Sophomore Status or Higher

US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Current full-time college student pursuing Computer Science / Technology / Engineering Degree program

Must be attending an accredited college/university

Sophomore year completed by the start of the work term

Desire to return for second term preferred
