The biomechanics of tissues are the result of a complex interplay of underlying microstructure. The evolution of the biomechanical function in the cardiovascular system results as a consequence of altered structural components which change with age, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, congenital diseases, and other risk factors. The long-term prediction of the outcomes of therapy, including surgical repair, requires the understanding of how biomechanics respond and evolve over time. This post involves performing biomechanical data analysis, developing structural constitutive models of the aging response, and developing personalized computational models to evaluate and simulate the potential outcomes.Mission StatementMichigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally.
