Come join us #WorkforBoca ScheduleUp to 25 hours per week Holidays, evenings and weekends required as neededGeneral Definition of Work:Performs intermediate semi-skilled work in the maintenance of municipal parks and grounds, including general park areas, roadway medians and swales, golf greens, fairways, tees, bunkers and rough, and clay/turf athletic fields and clay tennis courts. Installs, repairs, maintains and cares for parks, grounds and related structures and equipment; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.Essential Functions
Works as a member of a crew engaged in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of parks, grounds, golf courses, clay/turf athletic fields, roadway medians, clay tennis courts, or general park areas.
Repairs and maintains park areas and buildings; performs minor building, custodial, repair, and maintenance work.
Completes safety inspections on playground equipment, boardwalks, docks, restrooms, park amenities, etc.
Collects trash, debris and garbage and disposes of same; repairs grills, tables, trash receptacles, benches, gates and fences; replaces light bulbs.
Participates in the propagation, planting, and transplanting of appropriate trees, shrubs, sod and flowers.
Trims hedges; prunes trees, plants, and flowers; mows grass, pulls weeds and edges.
Performs plant maintenance and care tasks; rakes leaves and spreads mulch; waters plants.
Lays sod, applies grass seed, fertilizer, insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides; follows the guidelines and requirements set forth by the state, county and city rules and regulations.
Mows, edges, blows, waters; weeds, aerates and fertilizes parks and grounds, athletic field turf, general park areas, greens, tees and fairways; removes weeds from parks and grounds, including turf, landscape beds, tree rings and picnic areas.
Maintains, levels and repairs the clay portions of athletic fields and tennis courts; installs bases, pitching rubbers and home plates; moves portable pitching mounds; sets lines, installs posts, net supports and nets.
Operates and performs preventive maintenance and general repair of maintenance groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, chain saws, tractors, front-end loaders, trenchers, aerators, topdressers, dump trucks, small power equipment and similar equipment.
Related Tasks:
Measures, lays out and lines athletic fields and courts to prescribed standards; prepares fields, clay, greens, tees, bunkers and courts for play.
Inspects for safety and maintenance needs, completes the appropriate inspections sheets and paperwork.
Helps repair pipes.
Fixes sprinkler heads.
Assists with some irrigation repairs.
Washes and cleans tools and equipment.
Performs related tasks as required.
Assists with carpentry repair work on boardwalks, docks and playgrounds.
Must be available before and after hurricanes/ tropical storms for preparation and emergency clean-up.

compose and send e-mail and basic computer skills to prepare evaluations.
Minimum and Preferred QualificationsEducation and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; and
Six (6) months of general maintenance experience.
Certifications / Professional Licenses:
Position may require possession of a Florida Restricted Use Pesticide license, a Best Management Practices Certification, and/or Fertilizers Applicators License.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 75 lbs.
Occasionally required to wear facial protection gear in the application of chemicals.
Must be able to wear hard hat/helmet, safety glasses, goggles, respirator, safety shoes/boots, hearing protectors, welder's helmet, face shield, safety harness, safety vest, and gloves.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, animals/insects, electrical hazards, confined spaces, heights, noise, vibration, dust, vapors, fumes, mist, smoke, toxic metals, poisons, irritants, and moving mechanical parts.

CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARYPart-Time EmployeesELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal yearPAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
