Position hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.Salaries for this position are based on verifiable experience:

Pay rate for candidates with less than five (5) years of experience in same position: $17.36 per hour

Pay rate for candidates with at least five (5) years but less than ten (10) years of experience in same position: $18.55 per hour

Pay rate for candidates with ten (10) or more years of experience in same position: $19.82 per hour

Attachment of a resume does NOT factor in to the calculation of your experience.GENERAL PURPOSE The Restorative Aide assists the professional staff by performing various resident care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the residents. Primary responsibility is to perform followup restorative services for all appropriate residents as assigned by physical and/or occupational therapist in conjunction with unit charge nurse.TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only) Ambulate designated residents on the nursing unit according to prescribed methods. Supervise activities of daily living for designated residents according to prescribed methods. Awareness and application of proper gait patterns and use of assistive devices. Maintain proper inventory, care and application of assistive devices, i.e. splints, positioners, feeding equipment and ambulation equipment. Perform basic extremity range of motion exercises and activities to designated residents. Maintain daily records on residents and report any change in status of resident to respective department (s) (PT, OT, and NURSING) and ensure all care is accurately documented in resident medical record. This position may also be assigned to a resident assignment and/or other aide duties as needed. Aide is responsible for the delivery of resident care as directed by a Supervisory Nurse I or II (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards.SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position reports directly to a Nursing Supervisor, Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).SUPERVISION EXERCISED This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION Answers resident call bells to determine resident needs. Assists nurses or physicians in the provision of resident care. Changes bed linens and/or make beds. Demonstrates the ability to apply restraints as directed by nursing. Documents or otherwise reports observations of resident behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses. Prepare and serve food trays and feeds residents or assists residents to eat or drink. Measures and records food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to nursing staff. Observes and reports any symptoms that may require medical attention including but not limited to bruises, open wounds, or blood in urine, changes in mentation, intake, and vital signs, etc. Provides physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, standing, or walking. Obtains and records vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate as directed by nursing. Utilizes proper body mechanics to prevent personal injury. Maintains resident confidentiality and does not discuss resident in public areas, such as cafeteria, hallways, elevators, etc. Complete daily documentation on the care provided to each resident concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. Enters resident data into database and performs simple math functions. Employees assigned to this title will be requir d to possess and maintain a valid and current motor vehicle operator's license only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. Other job duties as necessary. Performs related work as may be required. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Completion of a high school, or general equivalency, diploma; AND Must be eighteen (18) years of age, or older; AND Graduation from a State approved training program. Must have a current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing with the State licensing board.OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire at Gracedale Nursing Home. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine). Upon hire employee must have a drug screening and COVID-19 testing. Employees may also be periodically tested for COVID-19 as required or recommended. In addition, Gracedale Nursing Home will follow The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements with regard to booster(s) needed for workers in health care settings.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of resident care procedures in a long term care facility. Must have skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate equipment and machines used in the performance of this job (mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/beds, etc.), as well as the demonstrated ability to transfer and transport residents in wheelchair, bed, specialty chair, etc. Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills, being respectful and conducting oneself in a professional manner at all times. Ability to work well with geriatric patients. Ability to complete and record documentation consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position. Ability to enter information into a computer database and operate a calculator. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English to perform the duties of this position.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT Telephone, computer, calculator, bedside equipment, i.e., bed pans, urinals, commodes, items of personal hygiene, beds, mattresses, walkers, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/beds, disposable pads, thermometers, ice bags, stretchers, oxygen tanks, and tubes.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described in the Physical Demand Ratings document are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.
