SITE LEAD POSITION:
The Site Lead, along with the Project Manager, is successful for the completion of the job, which includes being on time, on budget, and maintaining a high level of quality. In addition to being an excellent craftsperson in all regards, they should exhibit good judgment, high ethical standards, good oral and written communication skills and strong leadership abilities. This position is a "bags-on position," and is on the front line in achieving our company goals of superior product quality, exceptional experience and customer satisfaction.
A successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years experience running residential projects;
- Reliable transportation and capability of transporting tools and materials as needed;
- Knowledge and experience operating construction tools (including pneumatic, powered and hand tools);
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proficient knowledge of all trades and ability to communicate and coordinate with on-site crew and subcontractor/vendors;
- A "can do" attitude and outstanding work ethic.
Position Summary
The Site Lead will manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to the required quality standards. The role involves coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and site workers, as well as ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management: Oversee day-to-day site operations, including the scheduling of tasks and coordination of materials, labor, and equipment.
Team Supervision: Lead and manage construction crews, providing guidance, training, and resolving any on-site issues that arise.
Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets required standards and project specifications and conduct regular inspections to maintain quality and code compliance.
Safety Management: Enforce safety protocols, conduct site safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations.
Coordination: Communicate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements.
Problem Solving: Identify and address construction challenges, delays, or resource shortages, finding solutions to keep the project on track.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of site activities, including progress reports, materials used, and any incidents that occur on-site.
JobTread Software: maintain daily logs and photos, weekly labor allocation, review and code crew timecards, daily schedule review and reporting.
Knowledge, Skills and Tools
Jobsite skills: Must have advanced knowledge of remodeling and new construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, safety, and applicable building codes. Must be familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and specifications.
Leadership skills: Must be able to hold people accountable, assertively enforce policies and procedures, and solve problems.
Communication skills: Must be very comfortable talking to and fielding questions from clients and subcontractors, negotiating, finding compromises, and deescalating emotionally charged conversations both verbally and in writing. Must be able to speak and write fluently in English.
Administrative skills: Must be able to organize and access all documents and documentation related to the onsite management of the project including building plans, specifications, purchase orders, client communications, time budgets, project budgets and change orders.
Self-management skills: Demonstrates consistent ability to work independently, manage their time, be flexible, meet deadlines and commitments and make decisions. Must be able to plan and implement strategies for timely completion of construction projects.
Technology skills: Must be able to manage an online calendar, access and save files to a cloud-based file storage platform, operate web-based project management software, and generate and respond to email and text messages. The Site Lead should be familiar with the following software programs, in order of importance: Construction management software (training available); Bluebeam pdf editing and markup software (training available); MS Outlook and Outlook Calendar; and Cloud-based file management system.
Physical requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for a full shift (eight to ten hours); lift and carry heavy loads of up to 75 lbs.; and work from ladders, scaffolds, or lifts.
