Candidates with extensive professional experience and a PE may be considered for the Associate Teaching professor position. We house two major centers a) CREATES (https://rowancreates.org/) (Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems) and the Sustainable Facilities Center (https://users.rowan.edu/everett/SFC.html) and have a thriving research community with a growing graduate program. The department is home to roughly 300 undergraduates, 85 MS/PhD students, 12 faculty members, and 2 staff members. The CEE undergraduate program has consistently received high recognition from employers and academic peers with its multidisciplinary “Engineering Clinics (https://engineering.rowan.edu/programs/civilenvironmental/clinics/) ” as a hallmark.We seek energetic and innovative teachers committed to excellence in engineering education to join our dedicated family of faculty members. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching innovative and project-based courses in the Civil & Environmental Engineering curriculum. The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department greatly values experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and provides outstanding and state-of-the-art laboratories that support teaching and research. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and have the skills and dedication to develop innovative hands-on lab projects or other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools, and the ability to integrate such projects/activities into the course content. Any experience with assessment, pedagogy and scholarship of engineering education would be very valuable.The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering was founded in 1995 and quickly gained national recognition for its innovative multidisciplinary, project-based approach to engineering education, establishing itself as a national leader in engineering education. In 2013, the State of New Jersey designated Rowan University a comprehensive research university, and in 2017 our university was recognized as a Carnegie-classified research institution. During that period, Rowan Engineering doubled both its full-time faculty and student population, as well as started its engineering PhD programs. In 2017, we opened the doors of Engineering Hall and, in 2023, completed a full renovation of our original home, Rowan Hall. These projects tripled our available space and provided the College with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. The College currently enrolls over 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students in six departments and is home to five research centers. The Henry M. Successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. Teaching Professors positions are renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of three, and then five years per contract. Applicants must have earned at least a PhD degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Strong communications skills, the ability to work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams, and ability to teach in a project-based setting are essential.NOTE: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.All applications must be submitted through Rowan University’s Career Site.
