Job Description and Title - Shell Construction Superintendent
The estimator reports directly to the Director of Operations
Responsibilities
- Thorough involvement in all phases of construction development.
- Responsible for accelerating schedules and maintaining increased construction schedules.
- Estimate personnel requirements and recommend hiring.
- Work effectively with Director of Operations, assistant superintendents, engineers, architects, sub-contractors, employees, crews, inspectors, and client personnel during preconstruction planning through project completion.
- Attend pre-construction, construction and safety meetings.
- Communicate all changes in schedule, methods, and subcontractors to Director of Operations.
- Communicate to scheduling coordinators all material, inspection and crew scheduling needs.
- Oversee all inspections.
- Schedule, monitor and inspect all work on construction from start to finish.
- Provides leadership and supervision to all construction employees and sub-contractors.
- Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
- See that the company safety policy is adhered to on all job sites at all times.
- Review all material delivery and compare to purchase order for accuracy.
- Adjust purchase orders as needed for future jobs.
- Communicates with client personnel as to revised building delivery dates throughout production, and to resolve construction problems.
- Make sure job site is clean everyday.
Qualifications & Construction Experience
- Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans
- Be able to work under specific time pressures, and to address and correct any construction and / or scheduling problems on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of the latest Florida building codes
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office/Excel
The superintendent is a salaried position exempt from overtime pay.
The superintendent agrees to abide by the Employee Policy Manual.
