THE POSITIONAre you a skilled tradesperson who is ready for a challenging, yet rewarding opportunity to utilize your talents? If so, the Department of Corrections (DOC) has an exciting opportunity for a Corrections Plant Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and complete necessary repairs on the boiler plant at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Rockview. If you are a motivated and hard-working professional who possesses the required experience, the Department of Corrections wants to talk to you! DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Corrections Plant Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance and repairs for the boiler system under normal and emergency conditions. Duties include maintenance and repairs on screen chamber equipment and all auxiliary equipment for all boilers such as feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, chemical feed pumps, forced draft fans, control equipment, and water softening system. You will also oversee inmate workers in the performance of janitorial and maintenance work details while assigned to the boiler plant, and monitor inmate movement during operational hours while processes sign-out sheets. It is essential to maintain a safe and secure work environment and conduct searches of inmate workers and work areas for contraband. Interested in learning more? Full-time employment, 40 hours/week.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
