It encompasses a Quality Operations division that handles Computer System Validation (CSV), QMS Management, and Commercial Quality Shared Services, including support for Transportation Operations and Temperature Control. Additionally, it includes a Value Creation Office dedicated to steering strategic imperatives and improving the Quality & Compliance organization's strategy through initiatives like Data Strategy, Automated Product Release, and Digitalization of Quality Management Systems. To facilitate the deployment of these critical initiatives, the group employs two Deployment Offices for the MedTech and Innovative Medicines segments and maintains a global presence through three regional leaders handling operations in Asia Pacific (ASPAC), Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and the Americas. The Value Creation Office ensures efficient, measurable, and value-driven execution of the Q&C strategy, transformation portfolio, annual business planning cycles, and operational support for the office of Enterprise Quality VP.Within the Value Creation Office, the Data & Digital Strategy team is driving Q&C’s data & digital maturity through the assessment and development of capabilities that digitally transform business processes and respective systems, such as data analytics, AI/ML, generative AI and intelligent automation. Our team builds and drives realization of our vision for the digital way of working by promoting the utility and use of these emerging technologies and their adoption by our Q&C community.The Senior Manager, Quality & Compliance (Q&C) Digital Research & Innovation is responsible for investigating and integrating innovative digital capabilities and practices from external sources into our Q&C framework and strategy. This role will scan the external landscape to identify and benchmark the use of both emerging and established technologies (e.g. Digital twins, control towers, Intelligent Automation, Gen AI, IoT, advanced analytics, etc.) in the digital transformation of business practices and translate it into consumable and applicable research, guidance and process for internal application. Further, this role will partner within and external to Q&C to identify opportunities to apply this research and facilitate its application within initiatives to improve the quality and compliance of J&J’s business processes, products and services.

External Landscape Scanning : Monitor and analyze trends, technologies, and practices in the digital transformation space (e.g. Industry 4.0) within the life sciences industry and beyond.

Benchmarking and Research : Orchestrate comprehensive benchmark analyses and leverage insights from leading industry guides and research firms (e.g. Gartner and Forrester) to increase automation, predictive risk management and operational efficiency

Service Development : Build an internal proficiency for and inventory of industry analysis, benchmarking and research that positions EQ as the go-to source of best practice in the digital space for our Q&C community

Process Development : Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop guidance and standard processes for the adoption and usage of digital capabilities

Measurement : Define and continuously measure a set of metrics that depict Q&C’s level of digital maturity and progress, and identify areas of opportunity for further investigation

Internal Application : Partner with internal teams and external authorities to identify opportunities for leveraging research findings and facilitating their application within initiatives to enhance business processes, products, and services.

Thought Leadership : Provide thought leadership on key transformation efforts, and support delivery of best-in-class external digital solutions across segments

Continuous Improvement : Advocate for a culture of continuous improvement by identifying standard methodologies and innovative solutions to optimize our business operations and strategic initiatives across EQ

QualificationsRequired:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience

A minimum of 3 years in the application of digital concepts and technologies to tackle business challenges

Experience in a regulated industry in supply chain, operations, Quality, Information Technology or R&D function

Experience in benchmarking and incorporating the outside view through a functional strategic planning process

Strategic thinking, visionary and foresight to conceptualize new solutions that address core business objectives

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization

Project management experience

Executive presentation skills

Collaborative approach and ability to connect

Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity

Bifocal approach - ability to zoom-in/zoom-out for strategic and tactical, high-level, and detailed, etc.

Ability to lead in the context of Our Credo

This position requires up to 10% travel. (domestic and international)

Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, computer science or relevant technical field and/or Master’s degree or equivalent experience

Experience in Information Technology

Cross-sector experience in MedTech and Innovative Medicines.

Experience in leading R&D or Innovation activities

Working knowledge of innovation tools, including Design Thinking

Experience in establishing metrics and scorecards to monitor progress against Strategic Plans

Experience in partnering with external environment to consider future strategies in a healthcare environment, while adhering to the prevailing regulations or influencing their evolution in a health care industry

Specific experience in advancing a culture of Innovation

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $118,000 to 203,550.The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
