SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER & PROJECT COORDINATOR
Markel Interiors is looking for a full time Senior Interior Designer to work under the direction of the principal and a full time Project Coordinator. We are high-end residential design firm located in Boston.
Position Requirements:
Senior Interior Designer
Manage multiple projects and deadlines of various sizes, from conception to completion.
Source new products, vendors, and inspiration for the design team to use during projects.
Develop detailed design concepts and provide programming and space planning analysis.
Demonstrate understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts.
Perform field measurements and verification with Design Assistant
Prepare floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design drawings, furniture layouts.
Create construction documents and specifications that can be used for ordering and communicating with contractors, workrooms, and vendors.
Demonstrate strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Possess technical proficiency in building construction, techniques and materials.
Manage construction process and contractor/subcontractors to ensure that project deadlines are being met.
Oversee project administration performed by Design Assistant: review Proposals and Purchase Orders
Create invoices monthly for clients in collaboration with Design Assistant and Business Manager.
Coordinate and oversee installations and deliveries.
To be considered for the position, candidates must have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in interior design
8+ years of experience in post-graduate Interior Design.
Professional work ethic and appearance.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or Sketchup required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Proficiency in Project Management software a plus
Strong design, visualization, and communication skills
Detail oriented, team oriented and self-motivated
Problem-solving skills
Organization and time management skills
PROJECT COORDINATOR
Candidate supports the Project Manager, and Designer, in gathering information to implement into industry specific software for upcoming projects. Their main duties include maintaining budgets and work schedules, organizing, and ensuring all deadlines for certain projects are met.
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered for the position:
College Degree
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with a range of individuals, including clients, consultants, and other architects
Other position qualifications include:
Strong design and graphics skills.
Prior experience coordinating the work of consultants
Ability to multi-task, collaborate on teams of varying size, and work well under deadlines Ability to work in a collaborative, open environment
Ability to solve problems creatively.
Must be organized and efficient.
Experienced in customer and vendor interaction.
Computer proficiency required. College Graduate preferred.
Design industry experience and industry software specific software is a plus.
