Senior CAE Development Engineer, Auburn Hills PTCPOSITION SUMMARYThe CAE Development Engineer is responsible for leading and conducting product design and development through computer-based design analysis activities. This role primarily consists of using state of the art FEA Analysis tools to guide new product designs. FEA analysis tools such as ANSYS CAE/multi-physics modeling techniques to perform system-level and component analyses on Automotive driveline products such as transfer cases, gearboxes and electric drive modules. Typical analyses include structural FEA and fatigue life predictions. The person in this role must support Design-responsible engineers to release designs which meet or exceed targets. This CAE Development Engineer must also support CAE group and product design group growth through internal infrastructure and methodology development. The person in this role must also demonstrate characteristics which foster team progress, show diligence in daily tasks, is able to mentor other team members, takes the initiative to take on challenging assignments, and has the will and ability to create opportunities.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESPerform Design analysis/calculations using FEA Ansys tools to support structural, fatigue and NVH requirements Work with internal and outside engineering resources to reach optimized component and system designs for function, durability and NVH. Support design recommendations by coordinating Validation or NVH testing for correlation to predicted results. Lead advanced projects which will benefit component or system-level design and/or CAE group methodologies. Collaborate with other CAE team members on projects and methodologies. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Bachelors and Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Clear written and verbal communication skills
5+ years CAE FEA experience for Function, Durability and NVH in Automotive Powertrain or Driveline, including transfer cases, gearboxes or electric drive modules.
Design and analysis of automotive transmission systems and components, such as gears, shafts, housings, actuator systems, clutch systems, chain sprocket, etc.
Proficiency with Ansys Mechanical Workbench software for static and dynamic FEA
Familiarity with structural Acoustic predictions
Familiarity with running analyses through HPC technology
Self-directed/self-motivated
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Hybrid Analysis (combined 1D and 3D analytical plus empirical math modeling) experience for Function, Durability and NVH in Automotive Powertrain or Driveline, including transfer cases, gearboxes or electric drive modules is preferred.

Ansys Workbench – Mechanical, Acoustics, nCode
Altair HyperWorks.
SMT MASTA, ROMAX, MATLAB preferred.
