Production assistant for local artist
Washington, Seattle-tacoma , 98101 Seattle-tacoma USA

At Chavah’s Garden, we are all about Beautiful Usefulness. Our hand-made watercolor designs are printed onto our products in our Shoreline studio on a Brother DTG fabric printer and always with the highest standard of quality. The production assistant is the person on the ground that makes this happen for all our fabric goods.

While this role doesn’t require previous experience and we are willing to train, your willingness to learn and always be alert to issues of quality even amid highly repetitive work is essential to this position.

This is intensely physical work with no sitting. It involves a lot of movement walking between the printer, heat press and prep table (picture walking between your sink, stove, and kitchen counter), and a lot of repetitive motion:

1) You will be working a clam-shell heat press: picture opening and closing a huge waffle iron.

2) You will be working with a tagging device, also called a tagging gun because you’re basically

pulling the trigger to attach tags to all our products.

3) The tagging gun is finicky and so you must be both firm and gentle at the same time.

4) You will be pushing fabric onto the long sharp tagging gun needle.

This isn’t as harrowing as it all sounds but it is physically demanding so we are looking for two part- time employees.

Required Qualifications:

1) Documentation to show identity and authorization to work

2) Pre-employment background verification.

3) Be at least 18 years old.

4) Be able to communicate clearly in English. It’s fine if English isn’t your primary language, we

just need to be able to communicate clearly and efficiently about work tasks.

5) Arrive on time and complete scheduled work hours. All work is done in our Shoreline

printery.

6) Have some flexibility since the schedule may vary from week to week depending on

order/printing needs.

7) Keep alert to print quality even when printing multiples of the same design. This level of

being detail-oriented means this: if you walked into a room and saw a painting that was just

a teeny tiny bit askew, you’d feel compelled to go fix it.

8) Ability to reach, carry, bend, squat, kneel, lift and climb a step ladder in the process of

receiving and handling inventory, including bins of 45 lbs-ish.

9) Will take proper care with stretching and strengthening needed for this work.
