The Navigator Trainee serves to primarily assist patient navigation efforts at the Ralph Lauren Center by guiding patients through the health care system by assisting in community outreach and education focus groups and education sessions. The incumbent assists patients to access cancer screening services, building and maintaining relationships with community partners/service providers and tracking interventions and outcomes. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist with participant recruitment, screening, and data collection, assisting in documentation of outcomes.
Closely work with other patient navigators in assisting with patient reminders, data collection, and tracking.
Assist researchers at the Georgetown University Office of Minority Health in conducting population-based studies.
Perform other related duties assigned related to this position.
Work InteractionsThis position plays a key role in maintaining Lombardi’s OMH programmatic goals. They will assist current full-time navigators at Ralph Lauren Center and research staff at the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities. These employees include program managers, an exercise physiologist, navigators and a post-doc. This role would be very helpful in timely navigation of patients and efficient conduct of research studies. This position reports to the Office of Minority Health & Health Disparities Research Director and Assistant Director.Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required; MA preferred
1-2 years’ experience with community research/outreach
Must have flexibility to work at least one day a weekend a month
Candidates must have a high level of organization, detail and communication, and they must be able to adapt and record results accurately
Must have excellent written and verbal skills in English; other additional languages are advantageous
