Senior Cost Accounting Manager

Description We are on the lookout for a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to join our team located in Poway, California. In this role, you will lead and oversee all cost accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. You will also be instrumental in financial reporting, inventory management, and process improvement within our industry.Responsibilities: Oversee all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold reporting. Prepare and present detailed cost, margin, and profitability reports to senior management. Manage and analyze inventory transactions and reconcile inventory accounts. Conduct regular reviews and analysis of inventory levels to identify excess and obsolete stock. Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and minimize inventory write-offs. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cost accounting systems and reporting accuracy. Conduct detailed cost analyses for raw materials, labor, overhead, and other manufacturing expenses. Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and provide financial guidance. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards. Lead, mentor, and develop the cost accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Requirements Must hold a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of experience in cost accounting or related roles. Advanced knowledge and experience in cost accounting and standard costing. Proficient in inventory accounting and management. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred. Demonstrated experience in budget preparation and financial forecasting. Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Superior computer skills, with solid experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
