The College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at the Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an open-rank tenured faculty position focused on social and organizational informatics and located in State College, Pennsylvania. The appointment is at the associate or full professor rank and begins in July of 2025 at the University Park campus.We seek scholars who study the complex interactions between the human, social, cultural, political, organizational, economic, and/or technical factors fundamental to the use of information technologies. We invite humanistic and/or empirical approaches using qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods that generate impact for theory and practice.The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in residential, online, and/or hybrid modes; conduct cutting-edge interdisciplinary research; supervise and mentor graduate students; actively pursue external funding to support research activities; engage in service activities at the college and university levels; and collaborate with faculty across the university and industry partners.Candidates will possess a PhD in a discipline related to information sciences and technology such as informatics, social sciences, philosophy, business, or a related fieldbefore their appointment start dateat Penn State. Applicants seeking the rank of Associate Professor should have a strong record of scholarly achievement, external funding, and demonstrated success in teaching and service.Candidates for full Professor should have the same qualifications as the Associate Professor, as well as a record that distinguishes them, nationally or internationally, as leaders in IST broadly defined.The College of Information Sciences and Technology is strongly committed to a diverse community and to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students of all races, genders, and backgrounds.
