BUILDERS ASSISTANT / CONSTRUCTION HELPER
If you are interested in this position, please respond to this CL ad w/ some INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF, your Phone Number & your RELEVANT EXPERIENCE. Responses sending only a resume attachment or just saying "Interested in the job" will get ignored.
I am a general contractor working for Lawn Master (lawn-master.com), the nations premier manufacturer of all wood, outdoor shade structures. I am looking to hire an individual to assist me with the building of pergolas & pavilions throughout the greater LA area, as well as, up into northern California on a regular basis. This job does require the ability to frequently travel & stay overnight for 1-2 weeks at a time, with Lawn Master paying for hotel stays & providing a per diem for meals on days traveled/worked. This position does not require a construction background, but familiarity with the use of some basic power tools like a pneumatic nailer, hammer drill, circular saw, chainsaw, sawzall, etc. is helpful. As contractor, I will provide all tools, equipment & materials to complete each build, along w/ round trip transportation to & from each days job. As assistant, your primary duties will include the following:
- help load & unload materials & equipment from the trailer/tow vehicle
- assist w/ preparing job site for setting of structure posts (either physically digging post holes or setting anchors in cement)
- assisting w/ overall build of structure (nailing headers in place, drilling holes for header support bolts, etc.)
- assisting w/ job site cleanup & reloading equipment, materials & job debris back onto trailer/tow vehicle
This position is physically demanding as we are working w/ rough cut lumber that can weigh in excess of 200lbs. Please only respond if you are able to lift/carry this amount & are able to work outside on your feet for 8 hours a day. This position will also require you to successfully pass a background check.
Finally, this position does not pay by the hour, but instead pays 20% of each jobs completed invoice. Currently, the minimum build invoice is $1062, with larger, more detailed structures paying more from there. My schedule generally has 1-3 builds per week. This would result in approximately $200-$800 in pay to the helper per week. The smaller (10'x10', 12'x12', etc. pergolas) can typically be constructed in 5-6 hours, with larger units or pavilions being able to be completed in approximately 1.5 days. This position is a W-2 position, which means your pay will be issued every 2 weeks from my payroll company (Paychex) via direct deposit with all appropriate taxes withheld.
Thank you,
Michael
