Machine Shop Assistant
Job Summary:
A machine shop assistant supports machinists and technicians in the operation and maintenance of machinery. This position is entry level, and on-the-job training will be provided. Key responsibilities include:
Organize hardware and stock materials. A system for sorting parts according to the project will be implemented in consultation with the machinists.
Assisting in machine setup and operation.
Deburring and polishing machined parts.
Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas.
Following safety protocols and adhering to shop procedures.
Training opportunities:

Skills needed:
Active listening and giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as needed.
Capable of following instructions and being willing to ask questions if unsure of instructions.
Confidence to accept responsibility for mistakes.
Using basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry to solve problems.
Ability to communicate in English with coworkers, supervisors, and managers.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to perform repetitive functions.
This job requires attention to detail, and a willingness to support various tasks in a machine shop environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 33 per week
