Civil Draftsman

Civil Draftsman, Full-time, Permanent

Hilfiker Pipe Co., Inc dba Hilfiker Retaining Walls https://www.hilfiker.com is in need of a civil draftsman. This is a full-time, permanent position, with a 40-hour work week, M-F, 8am-5pm. Full benefits are offered 30-90 days after hire including health, dental, vision and life insurance, vacation and sick leave, and 401(k). Knowledge of civil drafting and AutoCAD is a requirement. Must be proficient in all MS Office programs.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Layout and draft engineering drawings for bid or proposal.

Read and decipher client drawings and sketches, determine the client's needs, and present the design clearly and effectively.

Determine any need for project-specific details and design.

Requires good understanding of geometry, land surveying methods, and elementary trigonometry.

Layout and draft shop drawings for the contractor's use in the field.

Interpret existing engineering drawings for construction; determine any need for special details to clarify concepts, and draft shop drawings.

Make drawings accurate, clear and easily understandable to contractors, clients, and supervisors.

Interpret ideas, sketches and descriptions from owners for new designs or site-specific details, and draft same.

Ability to use AutoCAD, Excel and Word.

Understanding of file formats, fonts, file compression, electronic mail, FTP, internet and web browsers.

Send and receive electronic files using FTP and email.

Read and understand engineering specifications.

Count materials to construct projects.

Understand and interpret profiles/elevation views and sections.
