SEEKING A ROOMMATE CAREGIVER to help me continue living independent
Hello,
My name is Thomas and I am 39 years old. I love and live for live music and attending camping music festivals. I'm very kind and positive and keep a healthy state of mind. I am very strong-willed and have a can-do attitude. It has gotten me far in life. I have been with my current Caregivers for over 10 years now because of the love, respect and understanding that we share. It is time to phase out those who have served me so well as they feel called elsewhere at this point in time. What I am truly seeking is hopefully a new member of my family who is also kind and wholeheartedly interested and helping me better my situation. I intend for this to be a very positive equal exchange of energy.
I live with and overcome a degenerative neuromuscular disease called spinal muscular atrophy. I'm in a wheelchair and need help with most all physical tasks from dressing to feeding and using the restroom as well as bathing. The most important part of helping me is transferring safely. You will need to pick me up with one arm under my knees and the other behind my shoulders. This is why I am requiring all applicants to be physically fit as I do not use a Hoyer lift. I weigh about 120 lb and have very long unwieldy dreadlocks. 420 Friendly but must be able to pass a background check in order to get paid by medicaid. No alcoholics or heavy drug users. For longevity sake I'm interested in someone who is interested in staying in the area and is under the age of 40. In the past I have strictly said only men should apply because that is who typically has been able to safely lift me but if you are a very strong woman who is confident in this I will be happy to meet you.
It is a single bedroom in a two bedroom apartment near North St. and Leverett area. The rent will cost you $0. It is reliable help that I seek. Someone with a flexible schedule is ideal. I have a caregiver that comes in three days a week and I'm working on getting the other 4 days a week covered. I am open to allowing my new roommate to work any or all of those days to make a reliable income. It is important the applicant is able to get me in bed nearly every night and use the restroom s needed. Also being carried into the shower is important and another reason I can't stress enough physical strength is important for this to work. My environment mostly consists of reggae music and positive music being played every day. I don't have or want Cable TV and commercials. I do have Netflix and Amazon that I watch at night sometimes.
If you are an open-minded person, read all of this and believe it could be a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you. Please send me your picture and some information about yourself. Much love.
P.S - I have two sweet dogs that need to be fed and taken out. Mulder is a small rat terrier and Scully is a lab mix.
