DESCRIPTIONWe are looking for a talented Technical Project Leader, Advisor - Electronic Parking Brake to join our team specializing in Engineering in Troy, MI.Overview:This position will be part of the Advanced Engineering & Innovation Group within the Cummins Drivetrain & Braking System division. As a Technical Project Leader – Electronic Parking Brake, your primary focus will be on leading all engineering activities linked to the development and application of Electronic Parking Brake used on Commercial Trucks.In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Facilitating Collaboration : By obtaining input and negotiating with various stakeholders, you’ll ensure robust prototype and production designs, and coordinated deliverables.
Risk Management : You’ll develop and implement technical risk mitigation plans, balancing program cost and delivery without compromising quality.
Process Improvement : Working within business processes like PPT, VPI, and CPS, you’ll use tools such as PDSS and iDFMEA to support high-quality decision-making.
Problem Resolution : Leading problem resolution for complex systems, you’ll address issues with significant ambiguity and global business impact.
Work Process Development : You’ll lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across functions within a global business unit.
Team Coordination : By coordinating and directing technical project teams, you’ll ensure efficient project execution and deliverables.
Expertise and Mentorship : As a recognized specialist, you’ll develop local talent and mentor other engineers, project managers, and cross-functional team members.
Stakeholder Engagement : Engaging with preferred partner suppliers, manufacturing, purchasing, technical leadership, and marketing teams, you’ll ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed.
RESPONSIBILITIESTo be successful in this role you will need the following:
Product Development Execution : Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute product development activities. Ensure alignment with requirements and technical profiles, and communicate across functional boundaries to meet resource and quality expectations.
Risk Management : Monitor project risks and take mitigating actions when necessary. Ensure product capability meets or exceeds expectations throughout the full product life cycle.
Modeling and Simulation : Utilize computational tools and methods to predict and analyze product function. Impact design decisions by interpreting these analyses at system, sub-system, and component levels.
Platform Development : Integrate market and key customer needs into a comprehensive development plan. Verify platform capability for all planned architectural variants within target usage markets.
System Requirements Engineering : Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements. Establish acceptance criteria, track requirements status, and assess the impact of changes on project scope, schedule, and resources.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Demonstrated success having worked in a Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering role on lower complexity product development activities, translating customer needs and negotiating into product development plans, technical profiles and/or product specifications with a proven track record of successful product decisions.
QUALIFICATIONSKey Responsibilities:
Leads Systems Engineering for Electronic Parking Brake. This will include capture stakeholder requirements (regulatory, customer and internal), and translate it into verifiable requirements for Systems, Sub-systems, and mechatronic work products, to which designs are developed.
Identifies system components and their influencing parameters such as sensor signals in close cooperation with system architects.
Leads system identification activity and technically directs Brakes Product Engineering, Cummins Electronics, and Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems (CDBS) Software Controls teams to deliver solutions needed for the system under development (Foundation brake, Electronic Hardware, and Software).
Works with Controls Engineers to setup system simulation models.
Leads system risk assessment activities such as Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), etc.
Leads system vehicle System Integration.
Lead internal and customer vehicle test validation in test tracks.
Leads and mentor less experience engineers.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical,or any related engineering field. Masters Degree in Engineering is highly desired.
10+ years of experience, including experience with Braking Systems.
Prior experience with development of Electronic Parking Brake.
Prior experience working as a Systems engineer, including utilization of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools for requirements creation and management (e.g. Polarion, Doors or PTC Integrity).
Strong knowledge electronic system architecture.
Experience with vehicle systems integration.
Experience with vehicle network topology (CAN, LIN, ethernet, etc.).
Good knowledge in sensor, signal processing and data analysis.
Demonstrated capability of independent development of a system both in a prototype stage, as well as for production.
