As the Data Governance Manager, you will lead the strategy, development, and delivery of Privacy, Compliance, and Consent capabilities for Ford’s Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). You will play a critical role in enabling Ford's data-driven initiatives by providing a scalable, secure, and robust data platform Features which focus on fast access decisioning, legal and regulatory privacy compliance, customer focus consent management and more, which serve various business units and functions. This role requires a strong understanding of data platforms, product management, and data minimization and privacy concepts to ensure the platform meets the needs of the organization while aligning with Ford's strategic objectives.Additionally, this role will help guide the overall Program Management processes and procedures for Ford’s Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)Key Responsibilities:1. Consent, Privacy, Security and Compliance

Ensure the platform meets all regulatory and compliance requirements, particularly in areas such as data privacy, security, and governance.

Collaborate with stakeholders in IT (security, risk management, application development), OGC and business functions (HR etc.) on privacy safe guards required in a global data environment

Understand and Provide a PoV of policies that govern country/region data security and privacy laws and/or regulations such as EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). US California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), etc

Partner with Office of the General Council as our Governance SME to define and continually refine a clear and concise set of data access provisioning rules and guidelines which can be codified, aiming to provide fast but compliant access to Ford data

Help Interpret Contractual Language to ensure that data access provided is adherent to 3 rd Party, Joint Venture, Partnership contracts

Act as a Privacy Advocate and educate the organization on key principles, as well as help key stakeholders interpret and understand our guidance

Act as the Privacy by Design DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) who will proactively identify and assess privacy risks associated with new products, services, and initiatives before development begins

Data retention

Privacy law/regulation Compliance adherence (e.g. GDPR, CCPA)

De-identification and anonymization techniques

Data classification methodologies

Access management decisioning

Monitor Program Progress and ensure that program goals align with the company's objectives, and frequently checking in on the progress of projects within the program

Maintain Process and Execution for key program governance such as change requests, issue and risk management, scrum-of-scrums, financial billing, and similar

Work closely with the security team to implement robust security measures, including access controls, encryption, and monitoring.

2. Product Strategy & Vision:

Develop and articulate the Data Governance product vision for the Enterprise Data Platform, aligning it with Ford’s broader data and digital transformation goals, focusing on EDP Features within

Define and drive the product roadmap, ensuring it reflects the evolving needs of the business, technological advancements, and legal and regulatory trends.

Prioritize platform features and enhancements based on customer feedback, risk mitigation, data-driven insights, and business impact.

3. Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with key stakeholders across various business units (e.g., Engineering, Analytics, IT, Security, Compliance) to understand their data needs and translate them into Data Governance platform features.

Manage relationships with senior leadership, providing regular updates on platform progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.

4. User Experience & Adoption:

Gather and analyze user feedback to continuously improve the platform’s usability, performance, and feature set, constantly balancing the competing priorities of customer data access with legal and regulatory compliance

Develop documentation, guides, and best practices to support users in effectively leveraging the platform for their data needs, understanding the importance of data minimization principles, including anonymization, data encryption

5. Program Management Oversight

Define and Execute a Communication strategy for stakeholders that ensures our roadmaps and plans are well understood and socialized

Define and Execute a Communication strategy for leadership which provides insight into the Engineering teams delivery progress, capacity utilization, etc

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.

5+ years of experience in product management, preferably with Data Privacy focus

Strong understanding of data architectures, big data technologies, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance in an enterprise environment.

Proven track record of successfully managing complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Preferred:

Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification is a plus

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
