As a Director & Counsel you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter.The Director & Counsel will provide enterprise-wide employment law advice and support. This position will be located at GDIT’s headquarters office in Falls Church, VA, and will report to the Staff Vice President, Assistant General Counsel for Employment Law.HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources (including Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, HR Compliance, and Benefits), Ethics, management and other internal stakeholders on employee-related legal and compliance matters
Track changes to state and federal employment laws and advise the organization on necessary adjustments to policies and practices
Draft and/or revise employee agreements, policies, employee communications, position statements, and responses to demand letters
Represent the Company before federal and state agencies, including DOL/OFCCP, DOL/Wage & Hour, EEOC and state human rights agencies
Manage employment litigation and interface with outside counsel
Provide training to human resources and management regarding compliance with employment laws and handling employee relations concerns
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCED:Required:
J.D. degree
Active state bar membership in good standing
At least 7+ years of employment law experience
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, PWFA, ADEA, FLSA, FCRA, and USERRA
Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, writing and organizational skills
Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and to provide business-focused legal advice
Ability to multi-task and work in a complex and fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
Preferred:
Experience at a law firm and in-house
Experience working for a government contractor
Experience with prevailing wage statutes
Experience with labor law
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
