Outpatient Administrative Specialist
Job Summary: The Outpatient Administrative Specialist will assist with standardized patient check-in and check-out procedures such as entering and verifying demographic, insurance and financial information and generating routine forms and other documentation. Responsible for processing of incoming/outgoing patient appointment referrals for all providers. Will provide administrative support. Will collect patient co-pays, manage denial process and assist with other Front Desk tasks. Works with/advises patients on insurance carrier requirements including services not covered and obtains documentation. The Outpatient Administrative Specialist will answer calls, obtain insurance authorizations, and assist with referrals. Will prioritize incoming mail, faxes and correspondence. Accepts assignments to other areas as neededMinimum Qualifications: Associate's degree and two (2) years relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Working knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing/insurance requirements, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills required. Computer skills and keyboarding are necessary. Ability to maintain good public relations with patients, visitors, co-workers and other individuals.Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of insurance authorization, work queue processing, reporting and scheduling preferred.
