The Lab Technician will assemble and install unique one-off mechanical assemblies for precision models of some of the largest hydroelectric machines in the world. The incumbent in this role will assist test engineer with the laboratory maintenance and may also support operation of the test stands or model design activities.Desired skills -
Assembly of precision parts and complex model hydro turbine assemblies
Installation and removal of assembled models weighing several tons
Deburr, Grind and polish parts
Welding (carbon steel, SST, AlBr)
Ability to perform straight crane lifts
Demonstrate the ability to be trained in model testing and operation of the test stands
Demonstrate ability to be trained to support design of model components
Interface with hydraulic designers, mechanical designers, model manufacturing teams during execution of model test programsQualifications -
Must possess High School Diploma or GED- Relevant Technology associate degree would be an asset
Demonstrates basic abilities in Major Mechanical Assembly and measurement techniques.
Effective in Minor Assembly (i.e., valves, sub-assemblies, bearings, etc.)
Must possess a valid drivers licensePhysical Demands -

The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low) and manufacturing setting (PPE required). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office or manufacturing environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
