Job Summary: Under general supervision, coordinates the processing and review of resident medical records and provides clerical support to the nursing department. Ensures compliance of records with relevant regulations and standards and performs a variety of clerical duties.
Essential Duties:
Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
Prepares medical records for newly admitted residents; reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence with established protocol.
Examines medical records for completeness and ensures all required information is included; notes any deficiencies and follows up with appropriate party or department.
Sorts, files, and collates a variety of medical records and information such as lab reports and verbal orders into resident medical records in appropriate sequence and in a accordance with established procedures.
Assists in the overseeing of closed charts for Assisted Living files.
Maintains the forms manual for the department; creates/revises forms in accordance with established procedures.
Takes requests for medical records or information and maintains control log of such requests.
Retrieves and copies medical information from resident medical records to answer authorized requests.
Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequirements:
Must be able to sit for extended period of time throughout the working day.
Must be able to lift, push and/or pull a minimum of 30 lbs. occasionally
Must possess the sense of sight and hearing.
Must be able to speak, understand, read and write in the English language.
Preferred:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - not required.
