Job Summary:This position may also be located in Nashville, TN, Indianapolis, IN, Chicago, IL or Detroit, MI.

Assist the Regional Vice Presidents and District Operations Managers in their efforts to assure safety compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Perform training, to include train- the- trainer for corporate operational and corporate safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA, FMCSA and HM

Audit terminals to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed

Perform terminal inspections using the 20-Day Self Audit as a guide to measure terminal performance

Perform onsite equipment inspections

As assigned, perform accident, workers’ comp, and light-duty assignment investigations

As assigned, perform DVIR, employee file and hazmat bill audits

As assigned, review information obtained from the outside observation program including dealing with those drivers

As assigned, review accidents and citations as well as work on the retraining of the respective employees

As assigned, handle weekend on-call duty for accidents and spills

Provide support to Sales, including customer visits, etc.

Provide weekly re-caps to Corporate Safety Department, give brief details of your week’s efforts

Travel to any location or area as required to meet the needs of the department

Maintain all company equipment within your possession in good working order, including your assigned vehicle

When at terminals, spend time with employees, listen to what they are saying and report issues, concerns or suggestions to the appropriate department(s)

Promote good relations with employees

Research, develop and implement computer based training in the field and instructional DVDs

Development and provision of course materials and/or training aids to assist employees in doing their job more efficiently and consistently system-wide

Research alternative learning delivery methods

Make recommendations and implement programs which will meet Estes’ needs

Manage the production of training videos, including writing scripts with the assistance of the subject matter expert

Maintain documents electronically on Enet

Develop training strategies that keep Estes in line or ahead of the competition as a carrier of choice

Ensure projects are prioritized and aligned to Estes’ strategic plan

Assist in the implementation of the overall plan for employee development

Assist in the development and implementation of workshops, seminars and/or webinars

Responsible for hiring, employee counseling, training and terminations: assuring they are processed according to proper guidelines

Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background; minimum 3-5 years related LTL Transportation experience preferred

Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience preferred

Possess general knowledge of LTL Operations, with a minimum of 5 years relative experience preferred

Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations

Proven leadership experience and decision-making ability

Detail oriented with good analytical skills

Good oral and written communication and presentation skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AS400, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker or equivalent desktop publishing software

Must have experience in developing and writing training materials and CBT as well as online training

Knowledge of trucking and/or transportation industry

Ability to interpret/analyze data to develop training materials

Must be organized, have a strong work ethic and able to multi-task

Must have strong interpersonal skills and team building talents

Must be an effective leader with the ability to communicate and interact well with others

Must be willing to accept responsibility for assigned region

Must be able to work any shift including weekends

Must possess a valid CDL-A with Hazmat and Doubles/triples endorsements

Must have acceptable driving record

Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred

Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct

Must be able to interact well with others

Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting

Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities

Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check

Must be authorized to work in the United States
