Attorney, Seattle Lodging Company. Full or Part Time
We are a growing lodging management company located in Seattle Washington and looking for an attorney to handle occasionally various matters. You can read about what we do at www.VortexVIP.com
We grow by providing strong staff expertise, proven methods, proprietary software and other technology, to lodging property owners.
THE JOB
This is an in-office job. Initially the job can be full-time OR part-time (your choice). In either case. we are looking for a strategic and energetic attorney to be a valued executive and part of our team, as we grow and expand rapidly. We need a trusted attorney on staff.
You must be licensed in Washington State, be located in or near Seattle, and within easy driving distance to our office on Seattle's Capitol Hill for meetings. There is easy parking and handy transit. Our office is a few blocks from light-rail and we pay commuting costs.
We apologize but please do not apply if you are not licensed in Washington State as that is required.
For this job, we can even consider recent law school grads with as little as a few years of experience.
THE WORK
You need not have extensive experience in all topics because many subjects will be infrequent but must have the ability to review, study and make recommendations as to how to proceed on some matters, then manage the matters.
The work includes general consultation with company and decision making with principals, mergers and acquisitions, review and drafting of business contracts and forms, contract enforcement, website policies, entity formation in various locations, guest collections and disputes, property owner disputes and negotiation, labor law.
Because lodging is a real estate and professional service , dispute resolution and (hopefully minor) litigation is unavoidable on occasion. You would evaluate legal exposure and risk, and recommend the steps necessary to settle or pursue matters.
Usually matters are of small. Should litigation arise you would handle matters personally, unless they required special expertise. In that case you would manage outside counsel.
In the future, we may franchise or sell licenses for our business model so the job may require assistance in seeking out and collaborating with franchisor consultants or franchise attorneys to prepare offerings, memoranda and franchisor marketing.
The work would also include dealing with intellectual property and copyright enforcement of our IP assets.
THE COMPENSATION
To start, we expect to pay between $70,000 - $90,000 per year on a contractor basis (proportional if part-time), PLUS bonus options.
THE LOCATION
This is an in-office job so you became a valued executive in our small management company. The office is in the trendy Pike Pine neighborhood on Capitol Hill. If you choose to work part-time, you would be welcome to use that office full time or for other clients as you see fit.
We are located in a trendy funky art-loft type warehouse building on Seattle's Capital hill. Ours is an informal work place, but we do have a private conference room that you could use and all business services such as phones, copier/fax, high speed Internet, and some clerical help.
