On-site manager for Arts District building
Onsite manager wanted for a 40+ unit hostel-like historic hotel. Each room is private and comes with a sink and closet, bathrooms and kitchen are shared. Compensation is free housing and utilities, with additional pay available for additional duties. Job is flexible (expect no more than 10-12 hours of work per week) and you are free to take on other jobs or studies, provided they are flexible enough to let you do this job and be on-site and on-call for emergencies.
This is a historic building in the Little Tokyo Arts District area with great, responsible guests who are self-sufficient. Professional cleaners come daily. Tenants include short-term guests that are from out of town or international and we also have long-term (multiple years) tenants. Great location, just two blocks from Little Tokyo metro station.
Great opportunity to get experience in the hospitality industry and meeting international travelers and long-time Angelenos. Common areas are cleaned daily by a cleaning professional. You will work with an off-site manager, who handles all online communications with short-term guests, to coordinate check-ins, check-outs and occasional guest needs (losing keys, need extra blanket, etc).
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Being the responsible person on-site and serve as landlord contact
2. General oversight of building (notifying landlord of leaks, emergencies, anything that needs repair, ensuring cleaning is done)
3. Providing keys to guests (via lockbox) or other items they need
4. Minor maintenance (changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, turning on heater)
5. Coordinating access for contractors, handymen, potential residents
6. Posting notices when necessary
7. Moving or rearranging light furniture when necessary
You will be required to submit a monthly time sheet.
Apartment manager must live on-site, but there is great flexibility to take on outside work or schooling. Candidate must be organized, good communication skills, can use a computer/word processor, and be responsive. You will be provided a phone and laptop. Handyman experience a bonus. Manager room is a private room and shares the bathroom and kitchen facilities with other tenants.
