Per Diem Pharmacist

Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.The PRN Pharmacist at Southwest Medical Pharmacy will perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders. Interpret physicians' prescriptions and create orders, access, input, and retrieve prescription information from computer system, verify whether orders are reimbursable. Consult with customers, patients, nurses and/or physicians regarding best use of medications, potential drug interactions, side effects and dosing recommendations. The pharmacist will be accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operations of all aspects within the pharmacy. This includes patient safety, pharmacy professional practice, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, personnel management, financial profitability, and workflow management.Primary Responsibilities:
Takes new prescriptions. Interprets physicians' prescriptions and creates orders, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from the computer system and verifies whether the order is reimbursable. Process and dispenses any or all the following: Home Infusion therapy, Hospice care meds, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectable and oncology medications; may compound medications
Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the quality, affordability, and effectiveness of drug regimens, and providing advice within area of expertise
Consults with customers, patients and / or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions. Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. Most consultations will be telephonic and rarely in person
Analyzes, investigates and report concerns
May cross train in Hospice, Home Infusion Pharmacy, and specialty pharmacy depending on the business needs
Oversee the activities of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy clerks
Perform all duties and functions in compliance with accrediting body standards and state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
Participate in quality improvement programs, productivity projects, resource projects, educational programs and any other programs deemed necessary to improve the quality of patient care or increase Southwest Medical Pharmacy productivity
Practice positive customer service and communication skills
Problem solves, interact with multidisciplinary teams i.e. order clarification with physicians and nurses

Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
Current unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state of Nevada
1+ years Pharmacy experience
Flexible to work weekend shift, based on business needs
Preferred Qualifications :
Pharmacy experience in Home Infusion, Hospice and/or specialty pharmacy
Experience with dosing of IV antibiotics and TPN
Chemotherapy experience
Proven exceptionally solid written and verbal communication skills, with special emphasis on effective telephone correspondence with a customer-first attitude
Proven excellent problem solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize
Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain courteous and professional composure during stressful situations
Proven ability to work cooperatively with both pharmacists and technicians
Nevada Residents Only : The hourly range for this role is $42.31 to $83.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
