Finance Manager
Description We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team in the Education industry, based in Seattle, Washington. This hybrid role (primarily on-site) involves managing financial reporting and accounting functions in a university setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for complex research, leadership in business and technology projects, and providing senior-level support in audits. This position offers a long term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: Conduct complex research, coordination, and resolution of financial reporting issues among health system entities. Develop and prepare standard Board level financial reports and metrics. Lead in business and technology projects where consistent, standard financial reporting is a deliverable. Assist with accounting, reporting, and technical research activities related to the university's net position and reconciliation to Workday. Provide support in the evaluation, adoption, and implementation of new accounting standards across the Health System. Perform monthly entries and review related to lease accounting and subscription-based technology contracts. Provide senior-level support in the successful, timely completion of annual financial and other audits across the Health System. Participate in the preparation of various internal, external (including Peer) monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for presentation to Management, Senior Leadership, Finance Committee(s), Board(s), and the University. Deliver technical accounting research and GAAP analysis; draft and present position papers to management advising on recommended accounting treatment and financial reporting guidelines. Create both standard and ad-hoc reporting tools for efficiently accumulating, analyzing, and reporting financial information consistently from source systems. Serve in a senior role for activities and tools in support of consolidation and elimination requirements to ensure appropriate consolidated reporting.Requirements Must possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in finance and/or accounting roles, preferably within a university or educational setting Advanced knowledge and understanding of accounting functions and principles Proven experience in auditing, with the ability to identify inconsistencies or inaccuracies in financial data Demonstrated mastery of budgeting processes and financial forecasting Expertise in capital management, including planning and executing strategies to meet the university's financial objectives Proficiency in using financial software, specifically Workday, for data analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with various departments and stakeholders Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience overseeing a finance team Ability to interpret and analyze financial data and present it in a clear, understandable way to non-finance staff Advanced problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying financial risks and opportunities Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (such as CPA, CFA) would be a plus Must adhere to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate a commitment to the university's values and mission.
