Preschool Assistant Teacher for Outdoor Preschool
Job description
Seeking an amazing and strong Assistant Teacher for our Outdoor Nature Preschool program for children ages 2.5-5, to start immediately. Must love the outdoors (IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER.) Have some knowledge of Washington's wildlife and their habitats and native plants. Must have knowledge of Early Childhood developmental stages and experience implementing positive discipline and supporting children’s learning. Must love singing and being silly with kids and have previous experience working with preschool age children at least 2 years.

In this role, you will be required to fulfill the following responsibilities:
In cooperation with Lead Teacher develop and implement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum using a Child Centered approach. As well as making sure to request and gather all necessary materials needed for curriculum implementation. Conduct ongoing assessment of students to create individual goals and guide curriculum planning.
Take daily pictures and notes on children to share with lead teacher.
Create an inviting and emotionally safe class environment. Be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all children. This includes helping children stay warm and dry in wet weather, managing risk in an outdoor setting, being aware of food allergies and dietary restrictions, assisting students with toileting needs and addressing student conflict.
In cooperation with Lead teacher conduct parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
Setup and take down classroom daily.
Gracefully and professionally communicate with parents and caregivers, both formally and informally, individually and in groups.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of Urban Nature Preschool policies and procedures in conjunction with UNP director as appropriate.
Be an ambassador for Urban Nature Preschool when interacting with the public.
Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including loading and unloading boxes of classroom materials, pulling a wagon, moving sticks and logs, and moving children.
Maintain up to date, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens training, & Food Handler’s Permit, Tb Test and Portable Background check.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have at least an Associate in Early Childhood Education or related field. One 2 years of experience teaching preschool.
Must have or be willing to provide proof of First Aid/CPR/Bloodborne Pathogens training, Food handlers Permit, Negative TB test results, Proof of Vaccination against Covid-19 and Portable background check. Must love being outdoors in all type of weather.
